About this exam

A full practice run at the exams your child will actually sit, under the conditions they will sit them in: a real venue, a real timetable, and every paper for their entry year in one day.

It is free, and it is the same day for everyone in the cohort, which is what makes the report at the end mean something.

Exams this maps to

  • Elizabeth Blackburn Sciences, Year 11 entry
  • John Monash Science School, Year 11 entry

What you get afterwards

A report by email once marking is done: your child's score on every paper, and where that sits against everyone else who sat the same papers that day. Writing is marked against the same rubric the real markers use.

Questions families ask

Is it really free?

Yes. Book the seat on this page and no card is asked for at any point. We run these because families who see a real result early make better decisions about the year ahead.

Which one should my child sit?

This one is for students in Year 9 now, so Year 10 in 2027, sitting Year 11 entry exams. If your child is a year either side of that, the other September mock is the one you want, and it is linked at the bottom of this page.

Does my child have to sit every paper?

Yes, and that is the point. Every student sits every paper for their entry year, so we can show you where they sit across the whole range and which schools suit them best. Nobody is expected to have covered all of it yet.

Do we need a Big Brain account?

Yes, and booking creates one. It is how the results reach you, and it is where the report lives afterwards.

What if something comes up and we cannot make it?

Reply to your confirmation email as soon as you know and we will release the seat. They are capped, and there is usually someone waiting on one.

Is there anything on before it?

Yes. The entry opportunity workshop for this cohort runs at 12pm the day before, at the same venue, also free. It covers which schools open places, how each process works, and what to do between now and the exam. Families usually do both.
