Online: Year 10 Entry Workshop: John Monash, Melbourne High, Nossal, Suzanne Cory #3

Online (Google Meet)0nline
For students in Year 8 now, Year 9 in 2027
About this workshop
For families whose child is in Year 8 now. Just under two hours on the schools that open places to this group, and how each of their exams and application processes actually work.
Schools and exams we cover
- John Monash Science School, Year 10 entry
- Melbourne High School, Year 10 entry
- Nossal High School, Year 10 entry
- Suzanne Cory High School, Year 10 entry
- Scholarship rounds at the schools that set the same Edutest paper, including Haileybury, Caulfield Grammar, Carey, Brighton Grammar, Westbourne and Ballarat Grammar
For each one: who is eligible, when applications open and close, what the exam contains, how the school decides, and what a family should be doing between now and then.
Selective entry and scholarships are separate exams, and we prepare for both together.
The rough timeline
- Registrations close about three weeks before the exam.
- The exams sit in June 2027, within days of each other.
- Results, any interviews and offers follow in the months after the exam.
The 2028 round dates are not published yet. We will show you the ones each school has confirmed and tell you plainly which are still last year's rolled forward.
Who it is for
Students in Year 8 now, Year 9 in 2027, and their parents. Parents are welcome on their own if your child cannot make it.
On the day
Free, at Monash University, Clayton, 10am to 11:45am. Nothing to bring but questions. The Year 10 Entry Prep Mock next runs on Saturday 14 November at Monash Clayton if you want to see where your child currently sits.
Questions families ask
Is it free?
Yes. Book a ticket on this page and no card is asked for.
Do we need to bring anything?
No. Bring questions. We will cover the ground either way, but the useful part is usually the specific question about your own child.
Should my child come, or is this for parents?
Either, and both is best. The content is aimed at the person making the decisions, so a parent on their own gets full value. Students in Year 8 now get the most out of the exam and preparation part.
Which of the workshops should we come to?
Start with the one that matches your child's year level: this one at 10am for Year 10 entry, or the 6pm session for Year 11 entry. They cover different schools and different exams, so the wrong one will not be useful.
What is the 12pm session?
John Monash Science School, Year 10 entry, on its own. This 10am session gives you the overview of JMSS along with the other three schools. The 12pm one runs two hours and goes through the five JMSS papers and the interview in detail. If JMSS is the school you are aiming at, come to both.
What is the 3pm session?
The selective schools, Year 10 entry, in detail: Melbourne High, Nossal and Suzanne Cory. Same idea as the 12pm one — this 10am session gives you the overview, the 3pm one runs two hours and goes deeper into that exam and how those schools decide. If a selective school is the aim, come to both.
Do we have to do the mock exam as well?
No. The Year 10 Entry Prep Mock on Saturday 14 November is separate. Your family's first mock with us is free, then $65. The workshop tells you how the round works, the mock tells you where your child currently sits, and they are worth more together than apart.
Also coming up
Families usually do both: the workshop to learn how the round works, the mock exam to find out where they sit.
